Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Project Engineer / QS to support the delivery of renewable energy and OT (Operational Technology) / IoT-enabled smart systems projects, including solar PV systems, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and integrated monitoring and control platforms.
This role focuses on site execution, system integration, and cost control, with a strong emphasis on networks, control systems, and connected technologies, alongside supporting electrical system implementation.
You will ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Site Execution & Project Coordination (Core)
- Support day-to-day site activities, ensuring works are executed according to drawings, specifications, and safety requirements
- Coordinate installation of smart systems, control panels, network infrastructure, and electrical systems (including solar PV and BESS components)
- Work closely with site supervisors, contractors, and vendors to ensure timely and efficient progress
- Monitor site progress and proactively report issues, risks, and delays
- Maintain accurate records of installation, testing, and site activities
2. Quantity Surveying & Cost Control (Core)
- Prepare material take-offs for electrical, control, networking, and OT/IoT system components
- Support project cost estimation, budgeting, and procurement planning
- Manage RFQs, vendor comparisons, and purchase tracking
- Monitor project costs, track variations, and highlight budget deviations
- Support preparation of progress claims, variation orders, and final accounts
3. Testing, Commissioning & Handover (Core)
- Support FAT, SAT, UAT, and commissioning of integrated smart and energy systems
- Assist in testing of control systems, communication networks, and electrical systems (e.g., PV, BESS)
- Coordinate with SME team during system integration and deployment
- Assist in troubleshooting issues across control logic, connectivity, and electrical interfaces
4. Engineering & System Integration (CoreFocus)
- Assist in the implementation of OT/IoT-enabled smart systems, including sensors, gateways, controllers, and cloud-based platforms
- Support integration between: Field devices and sensors Control systems (PLC/DDC/BMS) Communication networks Monitoring and analytics platforms
- Assist in basic configuration of controllers, communication interfaces, and networked devices
- Support data interfacing, signal mapping, and system troubleshooting
- Work closely with SME team for technical guidance on system architecture and integration
5. Electrical & Renewable Systems Support(Secondary)
- Support installation and integration of solar PV systems, inverters, BESS, and electrical distribution systems
- Assist in reading and interpreting single-line diagrams (SLDs), wiring diagrams, and panel layouts
- Coordinate electrical works with contractors and ensure compliance with specifications
6. Compliance & Documentation (Core)
- Assist in preparation of method statements, risk assessments, and technical submissions
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes, network standards, and safety regulations
- Maintain accurate technical, site, and commercialdocumentation
Requirements
Education
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Controls or related field
Experience
- 1-3 years of experience in smart systems, controls, automation, or M&E projects
- Experience in site-based project execution is required
- Experience in cost tracking, procurement, or QS-related work is preferred
- Exposure to renewables (solar PV, BESS)is an advantage
Core Skillsets
- Strong understanding of control systems, system integration, or OT/IoT-based solutions
- Basic knowledge of networking and communication protocols
- Ability to coordinate and execute site-based engineering work
- Basic quantity surveying / cost control knowledge
- Ability to read and interpret technical and electrical drawings
Technical Exposure
OT Systems, such as PLC, DDC, and BMS systems
Communication protocols (Modbus, OPC, MQTT)
IoT platforms, gateways, or cloud-based monitoring systems
- Basic understanding of:
Solar PV systems, inverters, or BESS
Electrical distribution systems
Soft Skills
- Strong coordination and communication skills
- Detail-oriented with strong accuracy in cost and documentation work
- Proactive, hands-on, and willing to learn
