Job Responsibilities
The Project Director - Landscape will have responsibility to deliver the designated project area or discipline within an approved budget and to ensure the project meets the financial objectives of Marina Bay Sands.
Strategic Long-Lead Procurement
- Asset Sourcing: Direct the identification, tagging, and securing of specimen plant material and rare hardscape materials (stone, timber, etc.) from regional and international nurseries/suppliers.
- Supply Chain Resilience: Develop procurement timelines that account for biological growth cycles and global logistics to ensure site readiness.
- Contract Negotiation: Lead negotiations for high-value supply contracts, ensuring quality guarantees and maintenance provisions are legally robust.
On-Site Project Execution
- Operational Oversight: Direct all phases of site works, including massive earthworks, complex drainage/irrigation systems, soil structural integrity, and final planting.
- Quality Control: Implement rigorous site inspections to ensure construction matches design specifications and technical horticultural standards.
- Problem Solving: Resolve critical site conflicts between landscape requirements and underground utilities or civil engineering constraints.
Contractor & Stakeholder Management
- Vendor Performance: Manage a diverse portfolio of specialist subcontractors, ensuring adherence to safety (HSE) protocols and master schedules.
- Interdisciplinary Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for architects, civil engineers, and local authorities to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Financial Stewardship: Oversee the project budget, including value engineering, progress payments, and change order management.
- Liaising and interfacing with other disciplines such as Design, Project Management and Construction to ensure that the most up to date information is being reported and tracked.
- Assist with the preparation of project funding requests.
- Liaise with Accounting and Finance for cost control updates.
- Prepare and review all cost reports before issue to Senior Management.
- Participate in Risk Management workshops.
- Monitor and advise Senior Management on the expenditure of project contingencies.
Job Requirements
Education & Certification
- Degree: Bachelor's Degree in Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, Construction Management, or Civil Engineering or equivalent technical experience.
- Regulatory Mastery: Thorough understanding of environmental regulations, sustainability certifications (LEED/SITES), and local building codes.
Experience
- Proven Track Record: Minimum of 10–15 years of experience in landscape construction, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role on projects exceeding [Insert Value, e.g., $20M+].
- Large-Scale Delivery: Demonstrated experience managing mega-projects such as public parks, luxury resorts, or major mixed-use podium landscapes.
- Procurement History: Experience in specimen tree tagging and managing international logistics for live biological assets.
- Horticultural Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of soil science, arboriculture, and irrigation systems specific to large-scale urban or resort developments.
Other Prerequisites
- Ability to interpret complex grading plans, MEP integration, and structural landscape details.
- Proficiency in project management software (Primavera P6, MS Project, or Procore).
- Strong financial acumen and experience in high-stakes contract negotiation.
- Self-motivated, good working attitude with a high level of personal professionalism and integrity.
- High degree of initiative and independence with strong analytical skills.
- Proven ability to work within a team is essential.
- Ability to communicate and interact with senior management and the project team at all levels.

- Competency in implementing Singapore standards, statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite applications is a pre-requisite.
- Excellent in Numerical, Analytical, Presentation and Project Management skills.
