As a Project Buyer, you will be instrumental in ensuring the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services for assigned projects. Your expertise will drive value creation through strategic input into sourcing strategies, the application of commercial agreements, and the continuous improvement of procurement processes.

Location:

Responsibilities:

  • Execute end-to-end procurement activities, including issuing purchase orders based on requisitions generated by the MRP system, ensuring timely and accurate order placement.
  • Maintain and manage vendor management systems (e.g., SCM STAR, PEGA, or similar enterprise platforms), ensuring data integrity and supplier compliance.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for resolving complex process or supplier-related issues, collaborating closely with Project Management, Business Units, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams.
  • Proactively follow up and ensure compliance with all supplier delivery date confirmations to maintain project schedules and mitigate risks.
  • Identify opportunities for and implement improvements to existing procurement work processes, enhancing efficiency, effectiveness, and overall value delivery.
  • Utilize and apply advanced e-Sourcing tools (e.g., e-RFI, e-RFQ) to conduct competitive bidding processes and secure optimal terms.
  • Leverage strong data analysis skills to identify value opportunities, generate comprehensive procurement reports, and support strategic decision-making.
  • Maintain up-to-date market intelligence, including knowledge of key suppliers, relevant market developments (e.g., mergers & acquisitions, financial status), and changes in key personnel.
  • Negotiate strategic purchasing conditions for various items, including the establishment of framework contracts for operational purchasing, driving cost savings and favorable terms.
  • Ensure all procurement activities adhere strictly to budget rules, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and established purchasing processes.
  • Collaborate effectively with planning and production departments to follow up on missing parts and ensure seamless supply chain coordination.
  • Validate and optimize purchase prices, preparing and managing tender requests to achieve best value for money.
  • Support the finance department in processing and resolving accounts payable exceptions and GR/IR (Goods Receipt/Invoice Receipt) issues.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all organizational buying guidelines, policies, and ethical standards.
  • Develop a deep understanding of contractual terms and conditions, project deliverables, and enact robust plans for meeting project goals.

Qualifications:

  • A Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related commercial field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience in a commercial, procurement, or engineering-related role, preferably within an industrial or project-based environment.
  • Solid understanding of core purchasing fundamentals, including supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, and comprehensive bid analysis.
  • Proven experience with procurement work processes and a strong understanding of purchasing policies.
  • Demonstrated expertise in negotiation strategies and tactics, with a track record of achieving favorable outcomes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and e-procurement platforms.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to persuade and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
