About the role

Mokara is looking for a dedicated, versatile, and team-oriented Competitive Gymnastics Coach + Recreational Gymnastics Manager to support both the growth of our competitive athletes and the development of our recreational programme.

This is a hybrid leadership role for someone who is passionate about coaching, teaching, and building strong systems. The ideal candidate brings sound gymnastics knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to develop both athletes and coaches with clarity, consistency, and care.

On the competitive side, this coach will help guide athletes through disciplined training, strong fundamentals, and positive, detail-oriented coaching. On the recreational side, this leader will help shape the structure and quality of the programme by organizing camps and events, supporting staff education, and working closely with the Recreational Programme Director to strengthen lesson planning and coach

The role will report into the Competitive Programme Manager and the Recreation Programme Manager.

Role Responsibilities

Lead competitive training sessions for assigned groups and levels in alignment with Mokara's values, technical standards, training systems, and seasonal goals.

Teach strong fundamentals and progressions across events, with an emphasis on safe development, quality of execution, consistency, and long-term athlete growth.

Create a positive, structured, and disciplined training environment where athletes feel supported, challenged, and motivated.

Provide clear corrections, measurable goals, and detail-oriented feedback to help athletes improve technically and mentally.

Support routine construction, evaluations, mock meets, and overall competitive readiness.

Help athletes build confidence, resilience, accountability, and a healthy relationship with the sport.

Maintain athlete wellbeing as a priority by balancing development, performance goals, and appropriate training loads.

Contribute to athlete planning and pacing where appropriate, including readiness timelines, event focus, and meet preparation.

Create, organize, and manage recreational camps, clinics, special events, and holiday programmes in collaboration with programme leadership.

Help ensure recreational events are well-structured, well-staffed, engaging, and aligned with Mokara's standards and culture.

Support operational planning for camps and events, including scheduling, staffing support, logistics, and programme flow.

Work closely with the Recreational Programme Director to strengthen the structure, consistency, and quality of the recreational programme.

Assist in the creation, refinement, and implementation of lesson plans for recreational classes across levels.

Help maintain clear standards for class objectives, coach expectations, athlete progressions, and teaching quality across the recreational programme.

Lead classroom-based training for new employees, including staff with little or no prior gymnastics experience.

Create a structured and documented set of materials for all classroom-based learnings that can be used by any experienced gymnastics coach to coach new coaches.

Teach foundational concepts such as class structure, athlete supervision, safety expectations, basic gymnastics terminology, equipment usage, and introductory skill progressions.

Support the onboarding and development of new coaches so they can confidently and professionally teach within Mokara's system.

Provide ongoing classroom training and education for coaches seeking to progress to higher teaching levels.

Help beginner coaches learn how to teach more advanced recreational levels through structured education, progressions, observation, and guided development.

Contribute to a culture of professional growth by helping coaches improve communication, technical understanding, class management, and teaching confidence.

Work with programme leadership to identify development pathways for staff and support continuous improvement across the coaching team.

Requirements

Prior experience coaching gymnastics required competitive coaching experience strongly preferred.

Experience in staff training, coach development, camp coordination, or programme management is strongly preferred.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities across both competitive and recreational programming.

Genuine enjoyment of working with children and helping them grow both athletically and personally.

Strong attention to detail in teaching technique, execution quality, safety standards, and class structure.

Team-first mindset: collaborative, coachable, professional, and ego-free

Ability to communicate professionally in English, both spoken and written.

CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain.

Must be able to provide at least two references from former employers.
