Job Description

Role Context & Purpose

The Senior Professional Butler will serve as a cornerstone of the Principal's private and executive life, providing end-to-end household leadership, personal service, and executive lifestyle management for a discreet European UHNW family office in Singapore.

This role extends beyond traditional butlering. It combines classical European service standards, modern household operations, and family-office-level professionalism. The successful candidate will act as a trusted confidant, gatekeeper, and operational anchor, ensuring the Principal(s) experience a life of quiet efficiency, dignity, and absolute privacy.

The role demands an individual of exceptional emotional intelligence, cultural fluency, and operational discipline, capable of operating seamlessly across private residences, executive settings, and high-level social and business environments.

Core Responsibilities

1. Principal & Personal Service Excellence

  • Deliver bespoke, anticipatory personal service to the Principal(s) at all times
  • Maintain absolute discretion regarding personal, family, business, and investment matters
  • Act as the Principal's daily interface for lifestyle-related decisions, ensuring minimal friction and maximum efficiency
  • Provide calm, unflappable support in high-pressure or time-sensitive situations

2. Household Operations & Residential Management

  • Assume full operational responsibility for one or more private residences (owned and leased)
  • Establish and maintain five-star hospitality standards across all living spaces
  • Develop and enforce household SOPs covering cleanliness, maintenance, security, and service protocols
  • Oversee preventive maintenance schedules, repairs, and vendor performance
  • Manage household budgets, expense tracking, and cost controls in coordination with the family office finance team

3. Staff Leadership & Team Coordination

  • Recruit, onboard, train, and supervise household staff including: Housekeepers, Drivers, Chefs / kitchen staff, Security personnel (where applicable)
  • Define clear roles, rotas, performance standards, and conduct expectations
  • Conduct regular staff evaluations and discreetly address performance or behavioural issues
  • Foster a culture of loyalty, professionalism, and service excellence

4. Executive Lifestyle & Travel Management

  • Coordinate complex global travel itineraries in partnership with the family office, aviation providers, and security teams
  • Prepare residences, wardrobes, documentation, and personal effects for travel
  • Manage unpacking, residence readiness, and post-travel logistics
  • Liaise with private aviation, luxury hotels, medical concierge, and trusted advisors
  • Maintain readiness for sudden itinerary changes or last-minute travel requirements

5. Hospitality, Entertaining & Protocol Management

  • Plan, execute, and supervise private entertaining including: Formal dinners, Business receptions, Intimate family gatherings
  • Manage table settings, silver service, wine presentation, and formal dining etiquette
  • Ensure appropriate protocol for dignitaries, investors, board-level guests, and family advisors
  • Demonstrate fluency in European, Nordic, and international business etiquette
  • Coordinate with private chefs, sommeliers, florists, and event specialists

6. Family Office & Business Interface

  • Support family office-related meetings hosted in private residences, ensuring discretion and professionalism
  • Act as a neutral and trusted interface between the Principal(s) and: Advisors, Senior executives, Investment partners
  • Manage access to the Principal(s), filtering requests in line with priorities
  • Ensure sensitive documents, conversations, and visitors are handled with strict confidentiality

7. Security, Privacy & Risk Awareness

  • Enforce privacy and confidentiality protocols across household and visiting parties
  • Coordinate closely with personal and residential security teams
  • Maintain vigilance over access control, visitor logs, and residence security procedures
  • Anticipate and mitigate personal, reputational, and operational risks
  • Maintain a low-profile, non-intrusive presence at all times

Candidate Profile

Essential Experience & Background

  • Minimum 1015 years experience as a professional butler or senior household manager supporting UHNW principals
  • Experience working with European or Scandinavian families strongly preferred
  • Proven background in private residences, family offices, luxury estates, or royal / diplomatic households
  • Demonstrated experience operating across multiple countries and cultures

  • Additional European languages (Norwegian, Swedish, French, German) advantageous
  • Formal training from a recognised butler academy or hospitality institution preferred
