Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and maintain Trumpf laser cutting, punching, and bending (press brake) machines to produce components as per engineering drawings and specifications.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, CAD files, and work orders to determine job requirements, tooling, and machine settings.
- Program and adjust machine parameters (nesting, cutting speed, punching tools, bend sequences/angles) for optimal output and material utilization.
- Perform in-process quality checks using measuring instruments (vernier caliper, micrometer, angle gauge, etc.) to ensure dimensional accuracy and conformity to specifications.
- Identify and troubleshoot machine faults, material defects, or process deviations escalate issues to supervisors/maintenance as needed.
- Perform routine machine maintenance, tool changes, and calibration checks to minimize downtime.
- Handle raw materials and finished components safely, ensuring proper storage and material traceability.
- Maintain production records, job cards, and quality documentation as per ISO/quality system requirements.
- Follow all workplace health and safety (EHS) protocols, including proper use of PPE and safe machine operating procedures.
- Collaborate with design, quality, and maintenance teams to improve process efficiency and reduce rejection rates.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives (5S, Kaizen, lean manufacturing) on the shop floor.
Required Skills & Experience
- 2-5 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication.
- Hands-on experience operating Trumpf CNC laser cutting, punching, and press brake (bending) machines.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and understand sheet metal fabrication processes.
- Knowledge of sheet metal materials, tooling, and quality inspection tools.
- Familiarity with TruTops or similar Trumpf software is an advantage.
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality and safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- ITI, NITEC, Diploma, or equivalent in Mechanical, Production, Tool & Die, or a related field.
- Trumpf machine certification/training and ISO 9001 manufacturing experience are advantageous.
