Production Supervisor (Manufacturing / Wood Cutting / West Area)

Key Responsibilities:

• Production Planning & Preparation:

  • Review production orders from Sales and plan daily production schedules.

  • Ensure timely requisition and delivery of consumables to workstations.

  • Collaborate with Team Leaders and Operators to verify all machinery, equipment, and tools are available and functional.

  • Flag any potential operational issues to the Production Manager and Maintenance Department.

• Shift Start & Manpower Management:

  • Chair toolbox meetings and check attendance at shift start.

  • Address unplanned absences by reallocating resources or reprioritizing the production schedule.

  • Inform the Production Manager of any schedule changes and the Sales Team of any changes to delivery dates.

  • Update HR on late reporting or absenteeism.

• Daily Production Oversight & Monitoring:

  • Visit all workstations to observe operations.

  • Ensure adherence to SOPs and quality specifications.

  • Monitor production order progress and material handling.

  • Complete and file all essential documentation.

  • Conduct random quality checks on finished components and verify quantities.

  • Monitor equipment condition and report maintenance needs.

  • Enforce safety protocols, PPE use, and housekeeping (6S principles).

  • Address employee concerns and identify training needs.

• Continuous Improvement & Reporting:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement (cycle time, waste reduction, etc.) using Lean methodologies.

  • Highlight improvement opportunities to the Production Engineer and Manager.

  • Monitor staff productivity via timesheet analysis.

  • Promptly report any quality or production issues to the Production Manager/Sales.

  • Arrange necessary overtime and submit requests for approval.

• Specific Duties:

  • Receive and verify production documentation (orders, drawings, BOMs, SOPs).

  • Instruct production teams based on customer requirements and delivery dates.

  • Liaise with the Production Engineer on material availability.

  • Manage In-Process Inspection Reports (receive, instruct, verify, submit, file).

  • Request final QA inspection upon job completion.

  • Submit documents to Production Admin for closing and verify completion.

Requirements:

• Background in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

• Prior experience in manufacturing, including production planning and supervision.

• Keen eye for detail.

• Willing to be hands-on and learn machine operations.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

• Experience in SAP is an added advantage.
