Responsibilities
Purpose of this role:
To ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of all technical aspects of production including camera, sound, and lighting by coordinating resources, scheduling crew, managing external vendors and supporting production teams in delivering high-quality outputs.
Scope
- Plan crew schedules and assign tasks based on production requirements.
- Work closely with production teams to ensure technical and manpower needs are met.
- Call for quotations, negotiate and manage external vendors for external crew and additional equipment requirements.
- Provide hands-on support in troubleshooting technical issues during shoots.
- Ensure operational efficiency, safety, and adherence to production timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage roster for cameramen, soundmen, lighting men and camera crew assistants.
- Assign crew members to productions based on skills, availability and workload.
- Plan and prepare technical setups (camera rigs, sound systems, lighting arrangements) ahead of each shoot.
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained, calibrated and in working order before deployment.
- Source quotations, compare vendors and recommend cost-effective solutions for equipment and filming services.
- Manage relationships with vendors.
- Coordinate with productions to align technical requirements with manpower schedules.
- Oversee on-site technical execution, providing immediate solutions to any operational issues.
- Monitor and track equipment usage, servicing schedules and consumables.
- Implement operational checklists, procedures and safety protocols.
Complexity Management
- Balancing crew availability with multiple simultaneous productions.
- Managing sudden changes in schedules, last-minute production requirements or urgent technical needs.
- Ensuring zero downtime or technical failures during critical shoots.
- Coordinating manpower and equipment within tight deadlines.
- Maintaining crew productivity and smooth operations while adapting to evolving technologies.
Qualifications
Functional & Technical Competencies:
- Strong understanding of camera, sound and lighting operations with hands-on troubleshooting ability.
- Quick thinking and resourceful in resolving technical and logistical issues.
- Ability to plan, organize and execute production support efficiently.
- Skilled in sourcing, negotiating and managing external partners and vendors.
- Ability to optimise resource for delivery of quality production.
- Ability to manage vendors.
Qualification And Experience
- Diploma/Degree in relevant discipline.
- 8-10 years of related work experience in media production, broadcast or film industry.
- Experience in organising and overseeing daily production requirements for camera unit.
