An established engineering and manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced Production Manager (Marine & Heavy Engineering) to lead fabrication and production operations for large-scale industrial projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering production targets while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Plan and oversee daily production activities to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with agreed schedules.
- Manage fabrication, assembly, and manufacturing operations involving large steel structures and engineered components.
- Allocate manpower, equipment, workshop capacity, and materials to maximise productivity and optimise workflow.
- Monitor production performance, identify operational constraints, and implement improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce delays.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, planning, logistics, quality, and project teams to ensure smooth project execution.
- Review production progress and resource utilisation, providing regular updates and recommendations to senior management.
- Lead and develop production supervisors, team leaders, and contractor personnel, promoting accountability and continuous improvement.
- Ensure production activities comply with applicable quality standards, engineering requirements, and workplace health and safety regulations.
- Drive initiatives to improve production processes, minimise material wastage, and increase operational effectiveness.
- Support workforce planning, equipment utilisation, and production readiness for upcoming projects.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Manufacturing, Production Management, or a related technical discipline.
- At least 8 years of leadership experience in fabrication, manufacturing, heavy engineering, industrial construction, or related production environments.
- Proven experience managing multidisciplinary production teams and coordinating contractors.
- Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, production planning, scheduling, and resource management.
- Experience implementing quality management systems and safe work practices in an industrial environment.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office experience with ERP or production planning systems is advantageous.
- Willing to be based full-time in Batam, Indonesia.
