About the Job
We&aposre accelerating our global expansion and seeking an experienced Product R&D Director to grow and lead a team for innovation in 3D vision-based inspection technologies.
Job Summary
As R&D Director, you will:
- Lead end-to-end R&D for Wafer AOI and Lead Scan inspection equipment, focusing on 3D vision, optical metrology, and defect detection algorithms.
- Drive the development of next-generation inspection and measurement systems for advanced semiconductor nodes (2.5/3D process, advanced packaging, HBM).
- Grow and manage a global R&D team (optics, software, algorithms, mechatronics) and collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, procurement and sales).
- Define the technical roadmap, ensuring alignment with semiconductor industry trends (e.g., AI/ML-driven inspection, IR Vision solutions, high-speed imaging, Micron Bumping process).
- Engage with key customers (IDMs, foundries, OSATs) to understand pain points and deliver market-driven solutions.
- Oversee IP strategy (patents and trade secrets) and maintain a competitive edge in inspection technology.
Key Requirements
- PhD/MS in Optical Engineering, Computer Vision, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years in semiconductor equipment R&D, with 5+ years in leadership roles (R&D Manager/Director).
- Deep expertise in: Wafer AOI / Lead Scan inspection systems (e.g., bright-field/dark-field imaging, 3D profilometry); and
- 3D vision technologies (structured light, interferometry, confocal microscopy).
- Optical system design, image processing, and motion control.
- Strong knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes (FEOL/BEOL, advanced packaging).
- Experience working with global teams and a proven track record of delivering high-volume production tools.
- Prior Vision R&D leadership experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of SEMI standards and semiconductor equipment compliance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Mandarin (for working with clients and vendors in the region).
- This position could be based in either Singapore or Malaysia.
