Position Summary
We are looking for driven, motivated Product Engineers to join our growing Life Cycle Management (LCM) team to support the development and manufacture of sequencing and genotyping consumables. The Product Engineer will partner with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Customer Support and R&D to sustain and improve delivered products, ensuring our customers are getting the best consumables on the market.
Position Responsibilities
Characterize product health and develop key metrics to drive efficiency and robustness improvements in manufacturing
Drive advanced analytics for process and subsequent product improvement and customer experience
Collaborate with Development, Process Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and other departments as needed to address issues with manufacturing yield and quality
Develop and implement new processes and tools to provide product manufacturing data to the company
Provide expertise as the internal SME for product manufacture and serve as the point of contact for manufacturing and product health issues
Provide technical input on information system architecture
Assist in defining technical requirements for new products
Support New Product Introduction and site transfer project activities
Preferred Requirements
Extremely good data analysis skills and a logical approach to problem solving
Ability to understand data in whatever format it's presented, and effectively use it to communicate a story and drive action
Strong programming skills (SQL, R (dplyr, dbplyr, tidyverse) preferred) and statistical knowledge (DOEs, statistical analysis, t-tests, ANOVA, sample size calculation etc.)
Experienced in visualization tools e.g. Tableau, ggplot2 package and shiny
Expert user of Excel, proficient in Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
Familiarity with Statistical Process Control and DOE techniques
Big data experience (including HPC, distributed computing, AWS Redshift) is a plus
Experience with New Product Introduction, product development or assay development is a plus
Experience with either of the following technologies is a plus: Microarrays or gene sequencing
Experience in one or more of the following fields is a plus: Oligo Manufacturing, Reagent Formulation, MEMS/Semiconductor Fabrication, or other high-tech, high-volume consumables manufacturing

Candidate will be required to pass color blindness test without any findings. In Illumina, we handle components/chemicals with different colors, and it is necessary to be able to differentiate and identify the correct components/chemicals (using visual) during operation.
Preferred Experience/Education
BS/MS/PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biotechnical Engineering, or related field
Or BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related field with strong knowledge of biology and chemistry
