Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Product Development & Formulation

  • Develop and improve formulations for construction chemical products including tile adhesives, grouts, sealants, waterproofing, and concrete admixtures
  • Design and conduct laboratory experiments to test new raw materials and formulations
  • Adapt global Mapei product formulations to meet local climate conditions, raw material availability, and regulatory standards
  • Evaluate and qualify new raw material suppliers

Testing & Quality

  • Perform physical and chemical testing on prototypes and production samples
  • Analyse test data, interpret results, and prepare technical reports
  • Ensure products meet relevant regional and international standards (e.g. SS, BS, EN, ASTM)
  • Support QC/QA in resolving product complaints and non-conformances

Technical Support

  • Provide technical support to sales, marketing, and application teams
  • Conduct site visits and product trials to evaluate real-world performance
  • Assist in product launches and preparation of technical datasheets and safety data sheets (SDS)

R&D Administration

  • Maintain accurate lab notebooks, test records, and project documentation
  • Manage laboratory equipment, chemicals, and safety compliance
  • Liaise with Mapei's global R&D centres for technical knowledge transfer

Requirements

  • Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
  • 2-5 years of experience in product development, preferably in construction chemicals, coatings, or adhesives
  • Familiarity with regional building standards (Singapore, ASEAN) is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams
