Job Title: Product Controller - Grains and Oilseeds

Reports To: Group Product Controller Location: Singapore
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Product Controller to join our finance team in a fast-paced and rapidly growing Agri Commodity Trading and Processing company. Reporting directly to the Group Product Controller, you will act as a strategic partner to senior leadership and the wider business in driving financial performance, improving operational efficiencies, and providing insightful analysis to inform decision-making. You will be integral to helping the company achieve its ambitious growth targets while managing risks and ensuring financial integrity in all aspects of trading operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Financial Partnering:
o Collaborate with senior leadership and key business stakeholders to provide actionable insights to improve profitability, cost optimization, and operational efficiency across the commodity trading activities.
o Weekly Global Position Report: Prepare and analyse the daily Global Position Report to provide insights into current financial standings and market positions.
o Weekly Mark-to-Market (M2M) Analysis: Conduct weekly M2M preparation and analysis to assess the market and counterparty risk and profitability.
o Forex Hedging and Exposure Monitoring: Oversee forex hedging activities and monitor exposure to manage currency risks effectively.
o Risk Management: Monitor risk limits rigorously and flag any breaches to ensure compliance with the company's risk management policies.
o Support key decision-making through financial analysis.
2. Financial Reporting & Analysis:
o Oversee the preparation and presentation of management reports, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with business goals.
o Analyse financial performance, highlight trends, risks, and opportunities, and provide recommendations to business vertical lead.
o Monitor and report on trading profitability, and performance against budget/forecast.
3. Budgeting & Forecasting:
o Lead the annual budgeting and quarterly review processes for the trading vertical, working closely with departmental heads and business units.
o Analyse deviations from the budget and forecast and provide actionable solutions to maintain financial targets.
o Review and update trade and financial cost assumptions based on market conditions and commodity price movements.
4. Operational Efficiency and Controls:
o Working Capital management - Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities and performance improvements across the business, i.e., reducing Inventory and AR cycle time, trade finalisation costs
o Streamline reporting processes and leverage technology to enhance financial visibility and operational efficiency.
o Control Issues and Process Gaps Identification: Identify control issues and process gaps, flagging them promptly and addressing them to ensure robust financial controls and compliance.
5. Cross-functional Collaboration:
o Work closely with the trading, risk, middle office, operations, and trade finance teams to ensure financial alignment across all activities.
o Act as a liaison between finance and non-finance departments to translate complex financial information into actionable insights.
6. Leadership & Development:
o Mentor other finance team members supporting the trading vertical and the continuous development of the finance team.
o Drive a culture of financial awareness across the business.
Qualifications:
. Education: Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (MBA or professional certifications such as CFA, CPA, or ACCA preferred).
. Experience:
o At least 5-8 years of experience in financial analysis, business partnering, or commercial finance, ideally within the agriculture, commodity trading, or manufacturing sectors.
o Strong understanding of commodity markets, trading strategies, and risk management practices.
o Experience in managing financial performance and providing strategic insights in a fast-paced, international business environment.
Skills:
o Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn data into actionable insights.
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with senior leaders and non-financial stakeholders.
o Power BI, Advanced Excel and financial systems knowledge
o Strong understanding of financial controls, compliance, and risk management.
