About The Role

You will need to be highly organised and creative.

Radio producers are responsible for the audio content of broadcasts via radio, the internet and other mobile platforms. He/she is involved in the entire process, from generating ideas to managing the audience response after a programme.

As a producer you'll manage and work with other producers, show anchors, engineers, socials network team, sales and tech staff. You'll make sure that shows run as planned and that they are tailored to key audience demographics. You may also be involved in the coordination of a sponsored segment or programme.

Roles & Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities vary depending on the time belt, and producers may sometimes take on the role of presenters. In general, tasks include:

  • Operate and manage the mixer board
  • Generating and researching ideas for programmes and pitching for commissions
  • Sourcing potential contributors and interviewees
  • Attending and contributing to pre-show and post-show briefings
  • Undertake editing, presenting programmes or managing anchors for both pre-recorded and LIVE output
  • Checking that copyrights are cleared and understanding media law
  • Converting text, graphics, video and audio files into other formats
  • Contributing to, and making use of, an archive of audio resources which can be re-used
  • responding to audience feedback, referring on to other departments as necessary
  • Managing daily social media content (eg. uploading Instagram stories, Facebook/YouTube Lives)
  • Conceptualising, filming & editing social media videos for the team
  • Assisting with Campus Radio (recording the students at the end of their workshop)

Job Requirements

  • A recognised tertiary academic background
  • Excellent communication and written skills
  • Be able to demonstrate strong situational awareness and proactive problem-solving
  • A highly organised and creative individual
  • Highly committed and passionate individual who enjoys working in a radio production environment
  • A keen interest in music and entertainment news
  • Good to have experience in audio editing software such as Audacity
