Job Description

Responsibilities

We are looking for a detail-oriented and passionate individual with strong capabilities in news editing, scripting, and production to join our Chinese News division. In this role, you will work closely with the newsroom team to uphold content quality, accuracy, and journalistic excellence across digital, television and radio platforms.

This role offers the opportunity to shape compelling narratives, ensure editorial precision, and deliver impactful stories that engage audiences in meaningful ways across multiple platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Script and produce local news stories based on a wide range of sources, including press releases, official statements, social media content and reports, ensuring accuracy and editorial integrity
  • Adapt and optimise scripts into platform-specific formats for digital, television or radio, ensuring clarity, consistency and audience relevance
  • Commission and coordinate graphics to support and enhance stories
  • Monitor and identify newsworthy content on social media and digital platforms and follow up on potential leads
  • Script and edit short-form video content to support digital storytelling and audience engagement if required
  • Work closely with reporters and editors to ensure smooth newsroom workflows, timely delivery and alignment across platforms
  • Develop subject-matter expertise in assigned areas to strengthen editorial depth, accuracy, and storytelling quality

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Mass Communication, Journalism, or a related field
  • Strong news sense with a good understanding of local news and current affairs
  • Good writing and editing skills, with strong attention to detail and language accuracy
  • Resourceful, meticulous, and a collaborative team player with strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, manage pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including weekends and public holidays, in line with newsroom operations
