1. Procurement Planning
Develop procurement plans based on project schedules, budgets, and material requirements.
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and quantity surveyors to identify procurement needs.
Forecast material and equipment requirements for multiple construction projects.
2. Supplier & Subcontractor Management
Source, evaluate, and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors.
Conduct supplier pre-qualification and performance evaluation.
Maintain an approved vendor list for construction materials and services.
3. Purchasing & Contract Negotiation
Request quotations and analyze supplier bids for price, quality, and delivery timelines.
Negotiate contracts, pricing, and payment terms with suppliers and subcontractors.
Issue purchase orders and ensure proper documentation.
4. Material & Equipment Procurement
Procure construction materials such as cement, steel, aggregates, finishing materials, and mechanical/electrical items.
Coordinate the procurement of heavy equipment and machinery rental if required.
Ensure materials comply with project specifications and quality standards.
5. Cost Control & Budget Monitoring
Monitor procurement costs and ensure purchases remain within project budgets.
Identify cost-saving opportunities through strategic sourcing and bulk purchasing.
Work with the finance team to control project procurement expenditures.
6. Logistics & Delivery Coordination
Track material deliveries to construction sites and ensure timely supply.
Resolve delivery delays, shortages, or quality issues.
Coordinate with site teams and warehouse personnel for proper material handling.
7. Compliance & Documentation
Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and construction regulations.
Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, contracts, supplier agreements, and invoices.
Support audits and project documentation requirements.
8. Team Leadership
Supervise procurement officers or purchasing staff.
Provide training and guidance on procurement processes and systems.
Ensure efficient workflow and task distribution within the procurement team.
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration.
Minimum 5-10 years of procurement experience, preferably in construction or engineering industries.
Experience with construction materials sourcing and subcontractor procurement.
