Job Description

Reporting to MD of SICK Singapore and Product Center Asia, and functionally reporting to SVP Group Procurement, the Procurement Director's key responsibilities includes achieving strategic procurement cost containment through the development and implementation of long-term commodity strategies and creating a supply chain that is robust and flexible to adapt to changing business conditions for the APAC region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the regional procurement organization efficiently and effectively, with responsibility to continuously optimize supplier quality and commercial conditions for goods and services, actively shape innovation, drive digitalization and overall procurement performance in collaboration with a global procurement network.
  • Implement procurement initiatives regionally in achieving timely completion of key procurement projects with cost optimization of NPI, cost- and value analysis and sourcing of materials, localisation of components as well as supplier quality and indirect spend.
  • Develop robust network of supplies with optimal cost, quality & timely delivery to support our business and manufacturing operations in the regions of APAC.
  • Strategize and implement strategy for key commodities to achieve continuous cost containment, improve Suppliers performance and mitigate supply risk to meet expectations of customers through Supplier Development and Continuous Improvement programs.
  • Manage all other operating expenses and deliveries of services of the Asian SICK sites with the responsibility for indirect spend.
  • Represent the company professionally in interactions with customers and vendors, adhering to the values of a world-class organization.
  • Competency development of team managers and team members to deliver maximum performance & overall result.
  • Explore and promote new technology and innovation with suppliers for adoption in product development for cost optimization and performance enhancement.
  • Ensure ESG criterias are met for all external supplies in the region.
  • Strong collaboration with corporate and other regional procurement organisation including China, to formulate and execute overall procurement, category and supplier strategy.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or related disciplines with minimum 10 years experience in procurement and supply chain in a global (manufacturing) organisation.
  • Outstanding organizational & leadership abilities with proven track record in a senior leadership and management role.
  • Demonstrable competency in strategic procurement planning and business development.
  • Possess strong analytical, planning and interpersonal skills; with the ability to communicate with senior leadership and across various countries.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with abilities to work with all types of people.
  • Good aptitude in decision making and effective problem solving through complex situations.
  • Have an extensive knowledge and experience in Supply Chain & Procurement management as well as Electronic, cable & metal commodities and industries.
  • Strong business acumen, adept at aligning supply chain strategies with overall business goals.
  • Proactive approach to identifying and resolving supply chain challenges.
  • Some travelling within Asia is required for this role.
