Position title: Senior Technical Safety Engineer

Job Purpose:
Designing and implementing safety systems and conducting risk assessments to ensure offshore facilities comply with industry standards and HSE requirements.
Responsibilities:
Designs fire and safety systems for offshore oil and gas modules and platforms. Develops design safety philosophies, HSE plans, and specifications for active and passive fire protection systems, Human Factors Engineering (HFE), and related elements.
Prepares and reviews engineering design documents, reports, and specifications for fire and safety systems, including design philosophies, equipment specifications and data sheets, safety equipment lists, material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and firewater hydraulic and safety-related calculations.
Designs active and passive fire protection systems and prepares Hazardous/HS Area Classification documentation, safety and firefighting layouts, escape route and life-saving equipment layouts, and other safety-related drawings.
Coordinates and participates in risk analyses, safety specialist studies, workshops, and reporting. Interfaces and coordinates with other engineering disciplines and clients, taking the lead in resolving technical matters related to safety.
Participates in process hazard reviews and analyses, including HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, FMEA, SIMOPS, and ALARP studies, and ensures timely close-out of action items.
Reviews third-party safety studies, including FERA, dispersion analyses, EERA, ESSA, dropped object studies, and QRA studies.
Evaluates and reviews Safety Critical Elements (SCE) performance standards, reliability and availability (RAM) analyses, and fire and gas detection mapping in accordance with project requirements.
Supports procurement activities and, when required, functions as the package engineer for safety, firefighting, and life-saving equipment.
Provides health and environmental inputs to projects, including health risk assessments (chemical exposure, noise, lighting, ergonomics/Human Factors Engineering) and environmental impact assessments.
Requirements:
Holds a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited university.
Possesses a minimum of 6 years of HSE engineering experience in the oil and gas industry, specializing in process safety or technical safety, with preferably 13 years of experience on offshore projects (FPSO, FLNG, FSRU, or platforms). Experience in hydrogen and ammonia-based facilities is an added advantage.
Demonstrates strong knowledge of oil and gas process facilities, as well as local and international process safety codes and standards (e.g., NFPA, EI15) and regulatory/marine codes and standards (MODU, SOLAS, DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register).
Keeps abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements, including IMO, NORSOK, API, UK HSE, and USCG standards.
Good working knowledge of PIPENET Vision, Flaresim, and understanding of other consequence modelling software such as DNV PHAST, etc., is preferred.
