Process Plating Engineer

Your Job

As a Process Engineer u2013 Plating, you will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining plating processes to ensure high-quality product output and efficient manufacturing operations. You will play a key role in driving process improvements, resolving quality issues, and supporting production and new product introduction activities.

Our Team

You will be part of the DSS team in Molex Singapore, working closely with production, quality, maintenance, NPI teams, as well as suppliers and customers to ensure plating processes meet operational and quality requirement

What You Will Do

• Develop and optimize plating processes (e.g., electroplating, electroless plating), including selecting suitable materials and chemicals to meet product requirements while improving efficiency, reducing waste, and enhancing throughput
• Ensure product quality by monitoring plating performance using testing methods (e.g., thickness measurement, adhesion testing), and implementing process controls such as SPC and FMEA to identify, investigate, and resolve defects (e.g., peeling, pitting, uneven coating)
• Oversee plating equipment lifecycle by specifying, installing, and maintaining systems (e.g., tanks, rectifiers, filtration), ensuring proper calibration and preventive maintenance
• Manage chemical processes by monitoring and controlling bath conditions (e.g., pH, temperature, additives), and working closely with suppliers to ensure compliance and performance standards
• Maintain accurate documentation including process parameters, work instructions, and safety data sheets (SDS), while ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (NPI, production, quality, maintenance) to support new product introduction and process transfer activities
• Train operators and technicians on plating processes and safety requirements, and provide technical support during audits and customer engagements
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Degree or Diploma in Chemical, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering, or related discipline
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the plating industry
• Knowledge of electrochemistry, surface finishing, and process control
• Familiar with environmental and safety regulations (e.g., RoHS, REACH)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

What Will Put You Ahead

• Hands-on experience in reel-to-reel plating processes
• Experience with Six Sigma or lean manufacturing methodologies
• Strong troubleshooting and project planning skills
• Good leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Experience using data analysis tools such as Excel or Minitab
