Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing or operational processes to enhance yield, quality, cycle time, and cost efficiency. Analyze process performance using data insights and root cause analysis techniques. Identify and troubleshoot process issues, deviations, and bottlenecks to ensure seamless operations. Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen. Select and qualify diamond tools based on material properties, optimizing feeds, speeds, and coolant usage to reduce tool wear. Establish and maintain comprehensive process documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, control plans, and process flow diagrams. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensuring processes comply with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Support projects aimed at cost reduction and productivity enhancement. Utilize materials science knowledge to manage tooling selection and material behavior, ensuring surface quality adheres to industry standards.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering relevant work experience may be considered. A minimum of 2 years experience in a technical, engineering, or manufacturing setting, ideally in a high-volume optics manufacturing environment. Hands-on experience in single-point diamond turning of optics or precision components is advantageous. Familiarity with process control measures and quality assurance systems. Practical knowledge of root cause analysis, 8D problem-solving, and Design of Experiments (DOE). Experience in ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and AS9100 environments. Strong background in materials science, specifically regarding optical materials, tool wear mechanisms, and surface integrity. Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies is preferred. Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams and effectively train production staff. Willingness to work shifts as necessary.
