Main tasks / activities / responsibilities
1. New Waste Technical Assessment
. Work closely with laboratory Chemists to conduct process-level evaluation of newly received wastewater, liquid waste, or mixed waste streams
. Assess suitable treatment routes and required pre-treatment based on laboratory results (e.g. pH, COD, oil & grease, toxicity, inhibitory substances)
. Evaluate the potential impact of new waste on existing treatment systems, including physico-chemical, biological, and membrane systems
2. Process Analysis & Treatment Strategy Development
. Analyze the feasibility of different treatment options from a process engineering perspective
. Compare alternative process configurations in terms of:
o Treatment performance
o Operational stability
o Chemical and energy consumption
o System risks (e.g. biological shock, scaling, membrane fouling)
. Provide technical recommendations to Operations and Commercial teams to support waste routing and treatment strategy decisions
3. Cost & Operating Parameter Analysis
. Estimate treatment costs based on laboratory results and process conditions, including:
o Chemical consumption
o Power consumption
o Sludge generation
o Membrane usage and replacement
. Analyze the impact of key operating parameters on treatment performance and cost
. Support the development and maintenance of treatment cost models and technical reference databases
4. Process Control & Technical Support
. Provide process-level technical support to plant operations teams
. Participate in abnormal operation analysis (e.g. effluent quality fluctuation, biological inhibition, system overloading)
. Propose process adjustments and mitigation measures to reduce operational risks
5. Documentation & Communication
. Review and consolidate laboratory reports, providing process-based conclusions and recommendations
. Prepare technical evaluation summaries for internal decision-making and external technical communication when required
. Participate in cross-functional discussions involving Laboratory, Operations, and Commercial teams
6. Safety & Compliance
. Ensure that all process recommendations and technical decisions comply with EHS requirements
. Participate in risk assessments for new waste streams and new processes (RA / MOC)
