Job Description

Role Description:

The Private Equity Investment Associate plays a key role in supporting the investment team in identifying, evaluating, and executing investment opportunities. This position involves conducting in-depth financial analysis, market research, and due diligence to assess potential investment targets in private equity portfolios. The Associate will work closely with senior investment professionals to evaluate businesses, financial performance, and market trends, as well as assist in preparing investment memos, financial models, and presentations for investment committees.

Key responsibilities include performing financial modeling (including discounted cash flow, comparable company analysis, and precedent transactions), preparing detailed investment reports, conducting industry research, and supporting the due diligence process. The Private Equity Associate will also be involved in portfolio monitoring, assessing the performance of investments, and helping identify opportunities for value creation post-investment. In addition, the Associate will contribute to sourcing new investment opportunities and building relationships with intermediaries, management teams, and other stakeholders.

This role offers significant exposure to the private equity investment process and provides a solid foundation for career progression in the industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance, exceptional analytical and quantitative skills, and the ability to communicate complex financial information effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Strong financial modeling skills, including proficiency in discounted cash flow (DCF), comparable company analysis (CCA), precedent transactions, and other valuation techniques.
  • Proficiency in Excel for building and analyzing financial models and preparing investment materials.
  • Experience with financial statement analysis and the ability to evaluate a company's financial health, profitability, and growth prospects.
  • Strong knowledge of the private equity investment process, including sourcing, diligence, negotiation, and execution of deals.
  • Experience in due diligence, including reviewing financial statements, management interviews, industry research, and competitive analysis.
  • Excellent research skills, with the ability to conduct thorough industry and market analysis to assess potential investment opportunities.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to prepare investment presentations, reports, and communicate findings to senior team members.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting tight deadlines.
  • A degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related field is typically required. Advanced degrees (e.g., MBA) or relevant professional certifications (e.g., CFA) are a plus.
  • Previous experience in investment banking, consulting, or a similar finance role is highly preferred, especially if it involved financial modeling, valuation, and due diligence.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to identify key financial, operational, and strategic issues that could affect the success of an investment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for managing relationships with portfolio companies, external advisors, and other stakeholders.
