Our client, a leading global technology company, is seeking a Privacy Support Specialist to serve as the primary point of contact for user privacy inquiries pertaining to South Korea's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
This is a 12-months contract role.
Responsibilities
- Receive and respond to inbound telephone calls and inquiries from users in South Korea regarding privacy-related matters.
- Provide professional and courteous support in Korean while accurately capturing inquiry details, including contact information, nature of complaints, and relevant account identifiers.
- Assess, categorize, and triage incoming inquiries based on established guidelines, including privacy requests, account-related concerns, and data subject rights requests.
- Complete standardized intake documentation and submit inquiries through internal systems for further review and processing.
- Ensure valid privacy-related inquiries are escalated to the appropriate teams within agreed service level agreements (SLAs).
- Maintain accurate records of all user interactions in accordance with data handling, privacy, and record-keeping requirements.
- Adhere to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for managing user complaints, privacy requests, and data protection inquiries.
- Support compliance activities, including participation in mandatory privacy and regulatory training programs, audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews as required.
- Assist with incident notification processes and reporting obligations related to personal information breaches or data protection matters.
- Prepare and provide regular reports on inquiry volumes, trends, service performance, and escalation patterns.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of inquiries and continuous improvement of privacy support processes.
Requirements
- Proficiency in English and business-level Korean is required to effectively liaise with stakeholders in Korea to support cross-border collaboration as part of the role's responsibilities.
- 1–3 years of experience in customer support, privacy operations, compliance, regulatory support, or related administrative functions.
- Ability to work during Korean business hours (KST).
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Experience in privacy, data protection, compliance, or regulatory support roles.
- Understanding of the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) or other privacy and data protection regulations.
