Principal/ Senior Lead, Membership

The Star Alliance office in Singapore coordinates the global activities of the Alliance, including managing joint projects on behalf of its 26 Members.

The Principal/ Senior Lead, Membership is a senior role reporting to the Senior Director, Membership. The role works closely with Star Alliance teams, Member Airlines, and external partners to support the effective delivery of the Alliance Membership framework, including Standards, Core Values, quality management, compliance, governance processes, and Member engagement.

This position requires a professional with strong airline industry knowledge, sound judgement, and the ability to translate strategic objectives into practical execution across a complex multi-airline environment. The role is central to ensuring that Alliance standards are clearly defined, consistently monitored, and effectively embedded across Member Airlines and partners.

Job Summary

  • Support the Senior Director, Membership in the delivery and continuous improvement of the Alliance Membership framework, including Standards, Core Values, quality management, compliance, and governance processes.
  • Manage and monitor the implementation of Alliance Standards and Core Values across Full Members, Connecting Partners, and Intermodal Partners.
  • Support Member integration, partner onboarding, and exit-related activities, ensuring clear planning, coordination, documentation, and follow-up.
  • Coordinate audits, quality reviews, journey inspections, central measurements, and other verification activities to assess compliance with Alliance requirements.
  • Translate governance decisions, business objectives, and Membership requirements into clear operational processes, guidance, and follow-up actions with Member Airlines.
  • Prepare and support key Membership governance forums, including Member Airline Committees and Expert Communities.
  • Develop meeting materials, decision papers, status updates, and recommendations for senior stakeholders and governance bodies.
  • Support the management of digital collaboration and compliance platforms, including StarDesk and other tools used to monitor standards, actions, risks, and Member engagement.
  • Work closely with Digital & Technology, Corporate Planning & Business Intelligence, Customer Experience, and Member Services Enablement to improve reporting, dashboards, and portfolio visibility.
  • Use data, audit findings, Member feedback, and performance insights to identify trends, risks, gaps, and improvement opportunities across the Membership portfolio.
  • Support business case development, feasibility assessments, roadmap tracking, and prioritisation of Membership-related initiatives.
  • Facilitate workshops, working groups, and alignment sessions with Member Airlines to drive consensus and ensure effective execution.
  • Maintain strong relationships with Member Airline stakeholders, ensuring issues are addressed with clarity, discipline, and appropriate escalation.
  • Contribute to a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and practical delivery across the Membership function.

Your Profile

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in aviation, travel, consulting, product management, quality management, compliance, or a related field.
  • Airline industry experience is required, with strong understanding of airline operations, alliance dynamics, customer journey standards, and Member Airline governance.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, aviation, engineering, economics, or a related field; postgraduate degree or relevant professional certification preferred.
  • Proven experience managing cross-functional initiatives, governance processes, audits, quality programmes, or operational transformation.
  • Strong ability to translate strategic objectives into clear plans, processes, requirements, and deliverables.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify patterns, assess risks, and develop practical recommendations.
  • Experience preparing executive-level materials, decision papers, governance updates, dashboards, and performance reports.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence, facilitate, and build alignment across diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work with multicultural and cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including exposure to senior leadership and Member Airline representatives.
  • Experience with business case development, roadmap tracking, portfolio coordination, and performance monitoring.
  • Familiarity with digital collaboration tools and project management platforms such as PowerPoint, Word, Miro, Jira, and dashboard/reporting tools.
  • Proactive, structured, and resilient, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to maintain discipline across documentation, follow-up, governance actions, and compliance tracking.
  • Fluency in English is essential, as it is the working language for communication with Star Alliance Member Airlines and external stakeholders.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally.
