Principal Pharmacist, Retail and Pricing
(Tengah General and Community Hospital)
Job Description:
Retail (not limited to)
Primary Responsibilities and Duties (30%)
- Evaluate Retail Assistant's productivity in topping up, merchandising, housekeeping, handling customer enquiries and cashiering related activities. Review with supervisor on his/her progress.
- Handle customer enquiries and requests for specific products not available in retail pharmacy.
- Evaluate customer feedback and plans for improvement. Ensure Retail Assistant comply to and observe service ethics.
- Review and improve retail operation workflow in regards to ordering, returning goods and matters relating to enhance retail operation.
- Ensure that pharmacy stocks are kept in good condition and comply to shelf-life parameters. Ensures that a system of monitoring product expiry date is in place to reduce wastage.
- Monitor closely the financial and service performances of the retail operations. Regularly update HOD on retail outcome and action plans to address gaps (if any) to improve the financial and service performance.
Secondary Responsibilities and Duties (20%)
- Develop and implement skill development program for all Retail Assistants. The program should incorporate product, merchandising, cashiering and customer service training.
- Strategize and plan for retail pharmacy development and expansion. Review product range to ensure that it is current and up-to-date to meet customer's needs. Constantly explore opportunities to enhance retail's revenue.
- Foster good working relationships and teamwork among pharmacy staff (between outpatient and retail staff).
Collaborate with ALPS purchasing team (25%)(not limited to)
- Rationalising the use of National projects e.g. Central Ware House and central fill.
- Assist with pharmacy contracts and licensing.
- Assist to negotiate the manpower with ALPS purchasing team.
Pricing (25%)(not limited to)
- Set up pricing structures.
- Makes decision about pricing on margin and markup.
- Ensure pricing set up is correct for each item code set up.
- Ensure implementation is timely and accurately set up.
- Assist with CDMP / Medifund workflow.
- To decide final workflow for checking and verification for pricing set up.
Other Adhoc Duties
- This shall be assigned from time to time.
Job Requirements:
- Possess Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited college of Pharmacy
- Possess postgraduate qualifications in hospital pharmacy or in management e.g. MBA or/and Master in clinical pharmacy or Pharm D
- Active pharmacist license in the state of practice.
- Possess strong leadership qualities.
- Possess excellent communication, supervisory, negotiation and managerial skills.
- Self-motivated and independent worker.
- Have demonstrated significant contributions to advancement of the pharmacy profession both within or outside NUH.
- Ability to work with pharmacy, medical, nursing and other hospital personnel
