About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Principal Firmware Engineer to join a growing engineering team focused on next-generation high-speed optical connectivity and Ethernet products.
This is a senior, hands-on technical role where you will take ownership of firmware architecture, development, verification and productisation, working closely with hardware, test and product teams. You will be involved across the full product lifecycle - from defining architecture and engineering specifications through debugging, production transfer and customer support.
The role is well suited for an experienced firmware engineer who wants strong technical ownership and the opportunity to contribute to the development of high-speed connectivity products.
Job Responsibilities:
- Define optical transceiver module/ethernet product firmware architecture and engineering specification based on product and customer requirements.
- Lead and responsible of firmware development, verification and maintenance.
- Conduct design evaluation according to requirements and verify functionality, robustness and reliability of the firmware design.
- Work closely with hardware engineers to conduct functional analysis and debug of new products to ensure that the products meet design requirements; provide debugging tools as required.
- Provide interface files required for automated test equipment and work closely with test software engineers to support production transfer
- Provide technical support for customer issues, promptly handle customer's feedback, analyze root causes of customer on-site problems and provide solutions.
- Write firmware related technical documents.
Requirements
- Bachelor/Master degree or above in electronics, communications, computers and other related fields.
- More than 10 years of experience in optical module/ethernet product firmware or relevant products development.
- Familiar with optical module firmware protocol standards, such as CMIS4.0/5.0 and other MSA multi-source protocols.
- Familiar with industry commonly used DSP (High Speed SerDes) component such as working modes, control methods, TX/RX equalization and application scenarios etc.
- Familiar with peripheral interfaces and protocols, such as RS232, SPI, I2C, USB, etc., with practical programming and debugging experience.
- Solid understanding of high-speed signal performance indicators and test methods, well versed in operation of commonly used lab equipment such as Sampling Scope, RealTime Scope, Protocol Analyzer, BERT, etc.
- Knowledge in IEEE 802.3 Ethernet and PCIe spec will be a plus.
- A solid team player with strong leadership and inter-personal skills, able to take proactive, collaborative and creative approaches to innovate and influence for optimal results.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Willing to travel as required.
