What The Role Is
The Institute of Leadership and Organisation Development (ILOD) is CSC's centre of excellence for leadership and organisational development, and the Sectoral Lead for Organisation Development (OD) job family in the Public Service. The Future Leaders (FL) team within ILOD comprised personnel selection specialists who work with partners across the Service to help build high-quality Public Service leadership pipelines.
As Principal Consultant with the FL team, you will oversee psychometric assessment exercises as well as contextualised selection activities, including Assessment Centres. Your responsibilities span programme management, stakeholder engagement, operations monitoring and impact evaluation. You will consult regularly with senior stakeholders, to secure support and resources for the various assessment programmes while maintaining high professional standards. Working with a team of specialists, you will ensure smooth execution of the programmes. You will also monitor programme effectiveness and initiate appropriate actions to update the approach and/or technology adopted by these programmes.
ILOD works with Public Service agencies to uplift leadership and OD capabilities; beyond your leadership role at the FL team, you could also be involved in, or lead, such consulting projects.
What You Will Be Working On
- Effective implementation of various assessment programmes; this would involve managing internal resources including people, systems and budget, collaborating with clients in other government agencies, building strong partnerships with associates and vendors, as well as keeping key stakeholders informed of significant developments in the programmes.
- Review the programmes after each selection cycle to enhance effectiveness and stakeholder satisfaction; this would involve conducting after-action reviews, engaging stakeholders to clarify expectations for the following cycle, being aware of emerging technologies, actively explore their applications and making corresponding adjustments to current assessment practices.
- Build the capacity of FL team members; this would involve providing clear directions, empowering staff to co-design solutions, explaining rationale for decisions, understanding their career aspirations and competency profiles, facilitating learning and creating opportunities for career progression.
- Maintain and enhance mission-critical systems/tools e.g. data vault with an intuitive front end that allows decision-makers to readily access information they need, user-friendliness and security of online testing facilities, ease of transaction for service users, protection of sensitive data, etc.
- Contribute to leadership development and/or OD consulting projects.
