Principal / Associate Partner — Energy (Oil & Gas), Utilities & Infrastructure - SEA
Our client is a leading global strategy consulting firm with a strong presence across Southeast Asia. The firm's Energy, Utilities & Infrastructure practice partners with national oil companies, integrated energy majors, power and water utilities, grid operators, and infrastructure investors across the region on corporate and portfolio strategy.
The Position:
This is a senior leadership position with genuine ownership over client relationships, practice growth, and people development. You will:
- Serve as a trusted advisor to C-suite and senior leadership at leading energy, utilities, and infrastructure organizations across Southeast Asia, including national and state-owned enterprises
- Originate and lead high-impact strategy engagements spanning energy transition and decarbonization strategy, upstream/downstream portfolio strategy, power sector reform and market design, grid and infrastructure investment strategy, and large-scale operational and organizational transformation
- Build and deepen client relationships, translating trusted advisor status into a growing pipeline of work
- Shape and drive the go-to-market agenda for the practice regionally, working closely with practice and firm leadership
- Contribute to thought leadership, proprietary methodologies, and the firm's broader brand in the sector, particularly around the energy transition
Requirements:
- C. 10+ years of experience in strategy consulting, with a substantial track record in Energy (Oil & Gas), Utilities, or Infrastructure — including exposure to national oil companies, power/water utilities, or infrastructure investment
- Demonstrated ability to originate and sell work, with an existing network of senior relationships across the sector in Southeast Asia strongly preferred, including with government-linked and state-owned entities
- A track record of leading complex, high-stakes engagements from strategy through to execution, ideally including energy transition, regulatory, or large capital programs
- Strong commercial instincts paired with genuine intellectual rigor — comfortable moving between boardroom strategy conversations and the technical, regulatory, and operational detail that makes strategies real in this sector
- Proven people leadership: a track record of building, mentoring, and retaining strong teams
- Fluency in English required; additional Southeast Asian languages are a strong plus
- Currently based in, or willing to relocate to, a major Southeast Asian business hub
Our client offers a senior leadership platform with significant autonomy and a clear path for continued career progression as well as the opportunity to build and shape a high-growth practice within an established global platform.
