Primary Student Care Teacher

We are hiring a full-time Primary Student Care Teacher for an established after-school care centre in Yishun.

This role is suitable for someone who genuinely enjoys working with Primary school students and wants to stay meaningfully involved in education.

The centre supports Primary 1 to Primary 5 students after school. Unlike a purely supervision-based student care setting, this role carries a stronger academic focus. You will guide students in their schoolwork, reinforce key learning areas, and help them build better study habits in a structured after-school environment.

The successful candidate should be comfortable teaching or supporting two Primary school subjects, with Primary Science being one of them.

You do not need to have formally taught Science as your main subject before. What matters is that you are able to prepare, explain Primary Science concepts clearly, and guide students through schoolwork or application-type questions.

This role will suit someone who is patient, clear in explanation, steady with children, and comfortable working in a centre environment where teaching, routines, behaviour management, and care duties all come together.

You do not need to be a perfect teacher from day one. But you must be responsible, willing to learn, and serious about supporting students well.

Key Responsibilities

. Guide Primary school students in daily homework and academic revision

. Teach or support Primary Science, including concept explanation, schoolwork guidance, and application-type questions

. Teach or support one other Primary subject, such as English or Math, based on your subject strengths

. Help students understand schoolwork clearly and build better learning habits

. Reinforce academic learning in a clear, patient, and age-appropriate manner

. Manage classroom routines, student behaviour, transitions, and daily centre flow

. Support students during arrival, meals, rest time, activities, and dismissal

. Communicate with parents professionally when required

. Work closely with the centre team to ensure students are safe, settled, and well supported

. Attend training, meetings, assessments, and teaching-related preparation when required

Requirements

. Prior experience teaching, tutoring, coaching, guiding, or supporting Primary school students is preferred

. Able and willing to teach or support Primary Science

. Able to teach or support at least one other Primary subject, such as English or Math

. Able to explain concepts clearly to children

. Able to guide students patiently through homework, revision, and school assignments

. Able to manage student behaviour calmly and firmly

. Comfortable working in a student care environment, not only a classroom teaching environment

. Willing to support both academic and non-academic student care duties

. Responsible, punctual, and able to follow centre routines and processes

. Able to work well with children, parents, and team members

. Open to training, assessment, and teaching-related evaluation as part of the selection process

. Able to work full-time onsite in Yishun

Working Hours

. Monday to Friday: around 10.00am to 7.00pm

. Saturday: half day, around 8.30am to 12.30pm

. During school holidays, rotating shifts may apply

Examples of school holiday shifts may include:

. 7.00am to 4.00pm

. 8.00am to 5.00pm

. 10.00am to 7.00pm

Salary

$3,200 to $3,500 per month

Final offer will depend on experience, subject fit, assessment outcome, and overall role alignment.
