Job Summary
The Principal, Primary School, will provide strategic and operational leadership across Early Years and Primary phases, driving pedagogical innovation, staff development, and community engagement to foster academic and holistic growth in a dynamic international school setting.
Responsibilities
- Lead strategic planning and operational management across Early Years and Primary phases to ensure cohesive student progression and school growth
- Drive curriculum development and innovation aligned with Cambridge and international standards to enhance teaching and learning outcomes
- Inspire and support a high-performing team of teachers through targeted professional learning and leadership development initiatives
- Promote a culture of high expectations, inclusion, integrity, and continuous improvement throughout the school community
- Build and maintain strong relationships with staff, students, parents, and the wider community to enhance school reputation and engagement
- Lead change management processes with empathy, professionalism, and clarity in a dynamic international school environment
- Ensure safeguarding, student wellbeing, and pastoral care policies are effectively implemented to create a safe and supportive learning environment
- Uphold and strengthen the school's vision, values, and culture through visible, authentic, and integrity-driven leadership
- Manage staff performance and regulatory compliance to maintain high standards of professionalism and quality assurance
- Collaborate closely with the Head of School and Senior Secondary Principal to ensure a seamless student journey across all school phases
Required competencies and certifications
- Qualified Teacher Status and a degree in Education or related field
- Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or related field
- Recognised leadership qualification such as NPQH or equivalent
- Proven successful track record of at least five years in Primary school leadership within a multicultural international school environment
- Experience with Cambridge or equivalent international curricula and knowledge of multiple curriculum approaches including IB
- Demonstrated expertise in pedagogical leadership, school improvement, and staff performance management
- Strong understanding and practical experience in safeguarding, student welfare, and pastoral care within international schools
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Experience as a Principal or senior leader in an international school setting
- Proven skills in building staff morale, retention, and fostering a positive school culture
- Experience implementing educational technology strategies to enhance learning
- Ability to lead whole school professional development and strategic growth initiatives
- Cultural awareness, adaptability, and an international mindset to support diverse student and family needs
