Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate Preschool Chinese Teacher to design and deliver engaging Chinese language and cultural lessons for preschoolers. The role focuses on building foundational language skills, fostering a love for Chinese, and supporting children's social-emotional growth through interactive, play-based learning.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement appropriate lesson plans aligned with Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) guidelines, integrating play, stories, songs, and hands-on activities to teach listening, speaking, reading, and writing fundamentals in Chinese.
Conduct daily Chinese lessons for different preschool groups (Nursery 1/2, Kindergarten 1/2), adapting teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.
Create a positive, safe classroom environment that encourages participation and cultural appreciation.
Assess children's progress regularly through observations and informal assessments, providing constructive feedback to parents and caregivers.
Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate Chinese language into cross-curricular activities (e.g., art, music, outdoor play).
Communicate effectively with parents, updating them on children's development and involving them in learning activities.
Organize cultural events (e.g., Chinese New Year celebrations, Mid-Autumn Festival activities) to enrich children's understanding of Chinese traditions.
Maintain accurate records of children's attendance, progress, and classroom activities.
Stay updated on best practices in early childhood Chinese language education and participate in professional development programs.
Requirements
Educational Background: Bachelor's degree or diploma in Early Childhood Education, Chinese Language, or a related field.
Certifications: Valid ECDA-approved teaching certification (e.g., WSQ Advanced Certificate in Early Childhood Care and Education - Teaching).
Language Proficiency: Native or near-native proficiency in Chinese strong command of English for communication with parents and colleagues.
Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience teaching Chinese to preschoolers (or young children) in a structured educational setting.
Skills: Excellent classroom management, creativity in lesson design, ability to connect with young children, and strong interpersonal skills.
Knowledge: Familiarity with ECDA curriculum frameworks and early childhood development principles understanding of Singapore's multicultural context.
