Job Summary
The Preschool Educator creates a secure, quality learning environment by nurturing respectful relationships and co-designing developmentally and culturally appropriate curricula. They lead junior educators and foster collaboration with families and the community.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate teaching, learning, and caregiving activities aligned with relevant curricula frameworks
- Analyze learning needs assessment results to inform curriculum planning
- Guide junior educators to engage children meaningfully according to curriculum and pedagogical frameworks
- Customize classroom management strategies to optimize learning environments
- Design quality learning environments using developmentally appropriate materials and resources
- Monitor and review health, safety, nutritional, and hygiene practices to ensure compliance with standards
- Identify and integrate emerging teaching methods, tools, and assistive technologies to enhance learning
- Evaluate children's learning and development documentation to improve teaching strategies
- Execute communication strategies to foster a collaborative culture within the Centre
- Identify and develop opportunities for collaboration with families to support children's learning
- Develop and manage outreach activities to promote Centre programmes and services
- Guide collaborative projects with families and community stakeholders to strengthen partnerships
- Evaluate family and community initiatives for continuous improvement
- Review caregiving assessments and practices to ensure adherence to standards and identify improvement opportunities
- Co-develop innovative teaching and caregiving methods based on sector trends, technologies, and tools
- Analyze professional practice to identify areas for improvement and propose development initiatives
- Promote the Centre's vision, mission, and values to enhance organizational culture
- Perform other duties as assigned by Centre leadership
Required competencies and certifications
- L2 certification with Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) (moved here from Preferred as it is a professional certification essential for core duties)
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Diploma in Early Childhood or equivalent
