Preschool Cook/Cleaner

Job Summary:
The Preschool Cook & Cleaner plays a vital dual role in the centre by preparing daily nutritious meals for children and staff, and ensuring that the entire preschool premises, including classrooms, common areas, kitchen, toilets, and playgrounds, are kept clean, safe, and hygienic at all times. This helps to maintain a healthy environment and supports the well-being of all children and staff members.

Key Responsibilities:

Cooking Duties:

. Plan and prepare daily menus for all meals consumed by children and staff, ensuring that meals are balanced and meet the dietary guidelines recommended by the Singapore Health Promotion Board.

. Purchase and manage ingredients required for daily cooking, ensuring freshness and quality.

. Cook and serve meals punctually according to the daily schedule.

. Ensure that all food is prepared and handled in a clean and hygienic manner, following food safety standards.

. Clean and maintain the kitchen, cooking utensils, and equipment after meal preparation.

. Maintain an organised inventory of kitchen supplies and report any items needed for restocking.

Cleaning Duties:

. Perform daily cleaning and sanitising of classrooms, activity rooms, toilets, pantry, kitchen, and office areas.

. Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors wipe down furniture, learning materials, and high-touch surfaces.

. Empty rubbish bins and dispose of waste safely and hygienically.

. Wash and disinfect toilets and replenish toiletries as needed.

. Clean and maintain outdoor play areas, ensuring they are free from debris and hazards.

. Assist with setting up and cleaning up after meals and snack times.

. Follow cleaning schedules and checklists diligently, ensuring compliance with the centre's hygiene and safety standards.

. Report any maintenance or repair needs noticed during daily tasks.

. Safely store cleaning supplies and report any shortages to the supervisor.

. Carry out any other cleaning or housekeeping duties as assigned by the supervisor or principal.

Requirements:

. Minimum 1 year of experience in cooking and/or cleaning, preferably in a childcare or preschool environment.

. Food & Hygiene Certification.

. Good knowledge of food hygiene and preparation, as well as safe cleaning practices and use of cleaning chemicals.

. Basic understanding of balanced dietary requirements for young children.

. Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks.

. Responsible, reliable, and able to work independently with good time management.

. Honest, trustworthy, and committed to maintaining high cleanliness and food safety standards.

. Friendly and respectful attitude towards children, parents, and colleagues.
