Job Description

To achieve professional pharmacy competency and develop high standards of ethical, legal and professional conduct in pharmacy practice through on-the-job experience and training

Primary Duties (80%)

The specific daily duties of a pre-registration pharmacist will vary depending on the needs of the pharmacy as determined by the section in-charge pharmacist and the pharmacist in-charge of the pre-registration pharmacist training programme.

  • Promote and contribute to quality use of medicine under the supervision of a pharmacist
  • Participate in drug therapy selection
  • Monitor and assess patient's drug therapy
  • Recommend action to optimise health outcomes
  • Participate/observe in adverse drug reaction management and reporting programmes
  • Participate in therapeutic drug monitoring programmes
  • Fill and dispense medicines under supervision of a pharmacist (inpatient and outpatient pharmacy)
  • Assist pharmacist in maintaining proper records pertaining to all phases of drug and supply ordering, storage and distribution as required by the hospital and / or legal regulations
  • Provide drug information under supervision of a pharmacist
  • Perform billing functions
  • Assist in providing customer service
  • Assist pharmacist in inventory management and drug distribution
  • Participate actively in continuing education and development programme

Secondary Duties (20%)

  • Assist pharmacist in administrative duties e.g. reports, surveys
  • Carry out projects as assigned
  • Manufacture, pre-pack, prepare extemporaneous pharmaceutical products and perform aseptic work

Qualification Required and Area of Discipline

  • Possess Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Bachelor of Pharmacy or equivalent from a College/School of Pharmacy which is recognised by the Singapore Pharmacy Council

  • Able to work independently

  • Possess good listening and communication skills
