Position Keeper, Commercial
(Location: Singapore)
As a Position Keeper, Commercial, you will be responsible for the monitoring and tracking of physical commodity trading obligations and associated paper positions to ensure accurate reporting of volumetric price exposure during the trading day to facilitate the management of price risk by individual traders as well as group exposures. Reporting to the Trading Desk Head, the position works closely with Traders, Schedulers and Product Control Advisors in a fast paced and dynamic environment to mitigate flat price exposure while supporting an effective and efficient control environment, ensuring positions are monitored throughout the trading day and appropriate future positions are maintained to support the delivery of accurate and timely marked to market daily and risk management position reporting. The Position Keeper works with team members from Trading, Scheduling, Product Control, Accounting, and F&PA to resolve discrepancies and improve deal capture system accuracy in alignment with corporate and Commercial Risk policies and guidelines.
What You'll Do
- Manage day to day market risk activities that support commercial trading operations, ensuring physical and financial positions are accurately tracked, analyzed, and reported throughout the trading day.
- Monitor commodity exposures across physical and paper instruments, validating forward curves, market data, and transactions to support accurate mark to market, volumetric, and risk exposure reporting.
- Deliver timely insights that help traders manage price risk within established limits, supporting informed trading decisions and a disciplined risk posture.
- Maintain a strong control environment by reviewing transaction activity, identifying discrepancies, and ensuring trades and positions are accurately reflected in systems of record.
- Support ongoing risk analysis, including stress testing, back testing, and variance analysis, to explain changes in exposure and performance.
- Partner closely with Traders, Schedulers, Position Control, Finance, and Planning teams to resolve issues, improve data quality, and strengthen end to end processes.
- Identify potential market risk issues, escalate limit breaches or control gaps as appropriate, and apply sound judgment in line with risk policies and procedures.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of risk reports, models, and procedures, using analytical skills to translate complex data into clear, actionable information.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance reporting accuracy, efficiency, and transparency across commercial systems.
- Continue building technical, market, and industry knowledge while operating effectively in a fast paced, collaborative trading environment.
What You'll Bring - Required
- Bachelor's Degree
- 1 or more years of commercial business experience working with financial products/ contracts used in commodity trading and risk management (swaps, options, futures, and forwards)
- Intermediate or greater proficiency working with energy trading activities and related reporting/risk management
- Must be willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to travel up to 5%
