Our client in the financial services sector is looking for a Platform Engineer to join their Financial Markets Technology team.
You will be part of a multidisciplinary Agile team, working closely with engineers, business users, infrastructure teams, and technology stakeholders to ensure the reliability, stability, and continuous improvement of critical technology platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide production and operational support for critical financial markets analytics and reporting platforms, ensuring reliable service delivery during regional trading hours.
- Take ownership of production incidents, coordinate resolution activities and communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders to minimize business impact.
- Drive problem management and root-cause analysis, identifying recurring issues and implementing preventative measures to improve platform reliability.
- Troubleshoot issues across the application, infrastructure, data and cloud technology stack, understanding how the different components integrate within the overall environment.
- Contribute to continuous improvements focused on reliability, performance, security, automation and operational excellence.
- Support testing, release and deployment activities, ensuring changes are introduced safely and with minimal disruption to production.
- Identify opportunities to use automation and AI-assisted technologies to improve operational efficiency, monitoring and platform resilience.
- Maintain and improve operational runbooks, knowledge articles and user documentation.
- Work closely with Trading, Risk, Infrastructure and other technology teams to resolve complex technical and functional issues.
- Participate in a shared standby/on-call rotation to support business-critical services.
- Work within an Agile/Scrum environment, contributing to the team backlog and participating in sprint ceremonies, demonstrations and continuous improvement activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Finance or a related discipline.
- Hands-on experience supporting Google Cloud or similar cloud-native technology environments, preferably involving data or analytics platforms.
- Strong SQL and data analysis skills, with practical experience troubleshooting data quality, performance, reliability or application issues.
- Experience working with production systems, including incident management, problem management and root-cause analysis.
- Knowledge of monitoring and observability technologies and experience using operational metrics and logs to troubleshoot issues.
- Understanding of CI/CD, automation and iterative software delivery practices.
- Good understanding of ITIL processes; ITIL certification would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of IT risk and security concepts, including vulnerability management, security protocols and certificates.
- Experience working with Financial Markets, Trading, Risk Management or related financial technology environments would be advantageous.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proactive and collaborative mindset, with the ability to operate effectively within a global, multicultural Agile environment.
