Job Title: Piping Manager
Location: Singapore
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Piping Manager to lead and manage the Piping Discipline across major FPSO, Offshore Oil & Gas, and EPC projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical and managerial leadership of piping engineering activities, ensuring the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions from design through fabrication, construction, and installation.
This role requires a strong technical background in piping engineering, proven leadership capabilities, and extensive experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams within complex offshore and energy projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Discipline Leadership
- Lead and manage the Piping Discipline, including Piping Layout Engineers, Stress Engineers, Material Engineers, Material Handling Engineers, E3D Administrators, and Designers.
- Provide leadership, direction, coaching, and mentorship to the piping team.
- Develop team capabilities through effective delegation, succession planning, and performance management.
- Promote knowledge sharing, continuous improvement, and technical excellence within the discipline.
Engineering & Project Delivery
- Ensure timely delivery of piping engineering deliverables in accordance with project schedules and quality requirements.
- Oversee piping layouts, 3D modelling, piping stress analysis, material specifications, pipe support design, and construction engineering support.
- Ensure fabrication deliverables are released in accordance with project milestones.
- Coordinate closely with Planning, Construction, Procurement, and other engineering disciplines to support project execution.
- Provide technical solutions and engineering support during fabrication, installation, and commissioning activities.
Technical Governance
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, company standards, client requirements, industry codes, and Class requirements.
- Review and manage technical queries, deviations, concessions, and design changes.
- Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, model reviews, and interdisciplinary coordination meetings.
- Maintain technical integrity and ensure compliance with applicable HSE requirements.
E3D & Digital Engineering Management
- Manage E3D systems and ensure model integrity, data quality, and consistency across projects.
- Support digitalization initiatives and continuous improvement of engineering work processes and systems.
Resource & Stakeholder Management
- Plan and allocate resources effectively to meet project and tender requirements.
- Participate in engineering management meetings and support business development activities.
- Provide manpower estimates, technical input, and scope development for bids and proposals.
- Partner with HR and recruitment teams to support staffing and resource planning activities.
Continuous Improvement
- Support standardization, lessons learned initiatives, process improvements, and engineering best practices.
- Contribute to improvements in project cost, schedule performance, and engineering efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with company Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) requirements.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Professional Engineering registration or relevant certifications will be an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 20 years of piping engineering experience within FPSO, Offshore Oil & Gas, Shipbuilding, or EPC projects.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a managerial, section head, or discipline leadership role.
- Proven experience as a Lead Piping Engineer prior to moving into management.
- Extensive experience supporting engineering, fabrication, construction, installation, and commissioning activities.
- Strong knowledge of piping layouts, stress analysis, pipe supports, piping materials, material handling, and construction engineering support.
Technical Skills
- Working knowledge of: E3D, Caesar II, MDS, Navisworks
- Strong understanding of international industry standards and codes including: ASME, ANSI, API, ISO, NORSOK
