Job Description

Job responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Piping Discipline, inclusive of piping layouts, 3D modelling, stress engineers, material engineers, material handling engineers, E3D Administration and designers.
  • Provide team with a clear sense of direction, inspire and co-ordinate people
  • Use a systematic approach plan, define clear priorities and allocate resources efficiently
  • Develop people through delegation, empowerment and coaching
  • Responsible to deliver the piping discipline deliverables to fabrication and construction
  • Be responsible for ensuring the release of fabrication deliverables by the yard engineering team as per project schedule
  • Interact and provide inputs to Planning and Construction with respect to fabrication and Installation requirements
  • Provide solutions to construction issues during fabrication and installation
  • Enforce piping design standards, project and Company specifications, industry practices, industry, international codes and standards
  • Compliance with Class requirements as defined by the projects
  • Provide inputs and guidance to piping related subjects.
  • Manage inter-discipline coordination Support and participate in 3D model, and constructability reviews.
  • Review and manage technical queries, deviations, and concessions.
  • Responsible for managing the E3D and ensure model and data integrity.
  • Be responsible for the technical integrity for compliance to HSE requirements
  • Plan and deliver the required resources and services to projects and tenders.
  • Participate in Engineering Management meetings.
  • Support bid activity for prospects with manhour estimation, scope preparation, inputs to bid documents, etc.
  • Conduct Talent Review and implement Succession Planning for key positions.
  • Lead and engage employees through open communication, feedback and recognition.
  • Partner with HR in recruitment activities to fulfil resource requirements on a timely basis.
  • Promote knowledge flow and experience transfer within the discipline
  • Conduct or facilitate training relating to technical and behavioural competence.
  • Ensure and promote compliance to QHSE requirements and Aibel Code of Conduct within the discipline.
  • Review and support improvement in discipline work processes, procedures, standardization, digitalization including but not limited to lessons learnt activities, continuous improvement, cost and schedule in projects.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by line manager

Work experience requirements:

  • Minimum 20 years of experience in Piping managing FPSO/offshore oil and gas/EPC projects with at least 3/5 years in managerial capacity
  • Proven experience as Section Head
  • Must have previously worked as Lead Piping Engineer with strong knowledge and exposure to international codes and standards, 3D models, Layouts, Pipe Supports, Stress Analysis, Piping Material, Piping Material Handling, Piping Weight estimations, production work, construction engineering support and other piping related activities

Qualifications:

  • Must have Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

Other skills:

  • Must have working knowledge in E3D, Caesar II, MDS, Navis.
  • Must be highly conversant with oil & gas industry standards such as ASME, ANSI, API, ISO, NORSOK, etc.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to write project reports and present technical issues to the design team and external parties.
  • Effective project management, problem-solving, leadership, people skills.
  • A strong business and commercial mindset
  • Visionary and steers the discipline
  • A high level of energy and ability to work under pressure and complexity
  • Ability to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
