Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Piping Engineer to support piping engineering, fabrication, installation, testing, and commissioning activities for shipbuilding, ship repair, and offshore/marine projects. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical knowledge of marine piping systems, shipyard operations, and relevant classification and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review piping drawings, isometric drawings, layouts, and material take-offs.
- Coordinate piping fabrication, installation, pressure testing, flushing, and commissioning activities onboard vessels and within shipyard facilities.
- Ensure all piping works comply with project specifications, class requirements, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Liaise closely with clients, production teams, subcontractors, vendors, and classification societies.
- Monitor project progress, manpower allocation, and work schedules to ensure timely completion.
- Conduct site inspections and troubleshoot piping-related technical issues during construction and repair stages.
- Support preparation of technical documentation, method statements, risk assessments, and inspection reports.
- Ensure compliance with shipyard HSE requirements and permit-to-work systems.
- Participate in project meetings and provide technical recommendations for improvement and cost optimization.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in shipyard, marine, offshore, or oil & gas industry.
- Familiar with marine piping systems including:Sea water systemsBallast systemsFuel oil systemsHydraulic systemsFirefighting systemsCooling water systems
- Ability to read and interpret P&ID drawings, isometric drawings, and GA drawings.
- Knowledge of classification society standards such as:ABSDNVLloyd's RegisterBureau Veritas
- Familiar with welding processes, piping materials, valves, and testing procedures.
- Strong coordination, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.
- Candidates with ship repair experience will have an added advantage.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in vessel conversion or retrofit projects.
- Knowledge of piping stress analysis is an advantage.
- Familiarity with QA/QC inspection procedures and documentation.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced shipyard environment.
