Job Summary
We are seeking a Pilot Plant Engineer to support process development, pilot plant operations, and scale-up activities. The role involves hands-on operation of pilot equipment, data analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure successful process transfer to production.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor pilot plant equipment such as reactors, filtration systems, and distillation units to support process development
- Conduct pilot-scale trials to optimize processes and validate scale-up feasibility
- Scale up laboratory processes to pilot and pre-production levels to enable manufacturing readiness
- Analyze experimental data and prepare technical reports with actionable recommendations for process improvements
- Troubleshoot process and equipment issues promptly to maintain smooth pilot plant operations
- Coordinate maintenance, calibration, and commissioning activities for pilot plant equipment to ensure reliability
- Ensure compliance with Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) regulations and company policies to maintain a safe working environment
- Participate in risk assessments including RA and HAZOP to identify and mitigate process hazards
- Collaborate with R&D, production, and quality teams to drive process improvement initiatives and knowledge transfer
- Maintain accurate documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and records for audit and regulatory compliance
Required competencies and certifications
- Degree or above in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Preferably 7 - 10 years of relevant experience in pilot plant, process engineering, or manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of process scale-up, equipment operation, and process optimization
- Familiarity with safety standards and regulatory requirements
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams
