The Payroll Transformation Manager / Payroll Operations Director is responsible for leading payroll operations, payroll transformation initiatives, and process optimization programs to ensure accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll management across the organization. This role oversees payroll systems, operational governance, automation projects, and workforce payment processes while supporting organizational scalability and compliance requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing payroll operations, payroll processing workflows, and employee payment activities
  • Leading payroll transformation, automation, and process improvement initiatives
  • Overseeing payroll systems, HRIS integration, and operational optimization programs
  • Ensuring compliance with payroll regulations, tax requirements, labor laws, and organizational policies
  • Monitoring payroll accuracy, operational KPIs, and service delivery performance metrics
  • Collaborating with HR, finance, IT, and external payroll vendors on operational initiatives
  • Managing payroll audits, reporting, reconciliations, and governance activities
  • Supporting workforce planning, compensation operations, and employee payroll support functions
  • Preparing payroll reports, operational analysis, and strategic updates for leadership review
  • Driving digital transformation, workflow standardization, and operational scalability initiatives
  • Managing payroll teams, stakeholder communication, and vendor relationship activities
  • Supporting risk management, data privacy, and operational continuity within payroll operations
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
  • 6–12 years of experience in payroll operations, HR operations, finance operations, or payroll transformation roles
  • Strong understanding of payroll processing, compliance regulations, and payroll governance frameworks
  • Experience with payroll systems, HRIS platforms, ERP systems, and process automation initiatives
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities
  • Proficiency in payroll reporting tools, Microsoft Excel, and operational dashboards
  • Ability to manage large-scale payroll operations and transformation projects effectively
  • Strong attention to detail and compliance-focused mindset
  • Experience in multinational corporations, shared services, healthcare, retail, logistics, or enterprise environments is an advantage
