Job Summary
You will lead and strategize the Missions portfolio at Wesley Methodist Church (WMC), collaborating with management, staff, and lay teams to develop and support overseas missional work and field development. You will identify new mission opportunities, mobilize participation, and nurture missionaries and theological students in alignment with WMC's mission.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic partnerships with mission agencies and partners locally and internationally to explore innovative mission models responsive to evolving geopolitical contexts
- Establish and maintain governance frameworks for missions within WMC, including reviewing and updating the Missions Policy
- Design and execute awareness campaigns to increase engagement in mission opportunities across WMC, collaborating with relevant ministries to maximize participation
- Provide pastoral care and support to new and existing missionaries, missioners, and theological students to foster their spiritual growth and effectiveness
- Mobilize and nurture Wesleyans to actively participate in missions as part of their Christian discipleship and fulfillment of the Great Commission
- Collaborate with the Missions management team and lay committees to identify and develop new overseas missional initiatives
Required competencies and certifications
- Demonstrated alignment with the doctrinal articles and general rules of the Methodist Church as outlined in the Book of Discipline of the Methodist Church in Singapore and its Social Principles
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, public holidays, and weekends to support mission activities
- Proven passion for theological growth and deepening understanding of missions work
- Relevant theological qualifications (e.g., MDiv) and/or equivalent experience in missions-related roles
- Minimum of 5 years experience working in missions within a Church or parachurch organization
- Strong knowledge of current missional strategies and trends to inform effective mission planning
- Demonstrated pastoral and servant leadership skills to nurture and develop others within the mission context
- Ability to travel internationally without restrictions to support overseas missions
