About the Role

We are seeking an experienced fintech professional to lead and manage card acquiring initiatives and scheme relationships within our payments business. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in international card processing, acquiring operations, and working directly with card networks (Visa, Mastercard) and PSPs. This role requires a strategic leader who can navigate regulatory, operational, and partnership aspects of card scheme membership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end process for obtaining and maintaining Visa/Mastercard Principal Membership for acquiring operations.
  • Build and manage relationships with card schemes, acquirer banks/partners, PSPs, and other key external stakeholders.
  • Oversee scheme compliance and operational readiness for domestic and international acquiring flows.
  • Advise internal teams on scheme rules, interchange management, settlement, and chargeback processes.
  • Evaluate and integrate card acquiring solutions to boost transaction performance, optimize costs, and enhance risk controls.
  • Represent the company in scheme governance and compliance discussions, ensuring full alignment with network standards.
  • Identify and drive strategic partnership opportunities with new acquirers, card processors, and ISOs to expand coverage.
  • Lead offline POS acquiring operations, including merchant onboarding, terminal deployment, transaction routing, and settlement with external partners.
  • Execute initiatives to enhance offline merchant acceptance, grow terminal networks, and improve transaction success rates.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on global card processing frameworks, including authorization, settlement, and reconciliation.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 8 years of experience in the card payments ecosystem within a card scheme, acquirer organization, or PSP.
  • Proven success in applying for and managing Visa and/or Mastercard Principal Membership for acquiring.
  • Deep understanding of card acquiring and processing (authorization, settlement, disputes, and compliance).
  • Strong experience managing stakeholders including regulators, card schemes, and external partners.
  • Familiarity with scheme compliance, BIN sponsorship, and merchant acquiring risk management.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills across internal and external teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, IT, or related fields; advanced degree preferred.
