Job Description

UWCSEA is looking for a Teacher of Psychology to support with a part-time maternity cover position at it's Dover campus from August until mid October 2026. This role is an approximately 75% timetable, with 4 or 5 classes.

The successful applicant will have experience teaching Psychology at a High School level. Experience of teaching IB Diploma Psychology will be an advantage for this position. The successful candidate will likely teach IB Diploma Psychology in Grades 11 or 12, alongside our UWCSEA Psychology courses in Grades 9 and 10. The actual determination of classes will be dependent on the skill set of the appointee, the needs of our students and timetabling requirements.

The Psychology Department is a team composed of four enthusiastic and dynamic teachers who work in a very well-resourced environment for learning. Collectively the team is striving to ensure all students can access learning and excel to the best of their abilities.

Please note that to apply for this role, you must have an internationally recognised qualification and reside in Singapore. You must also be readily available from August 2026.

Main Responsibilities

  • Teachers should be willing to contribute positively to the collaborative culture of the Psychology and broader Humanities and High School teams.
  • Teachers should construct learning experiences that challenge students, support the diversity of learners in each classroom and demonstrate a strong commitment to concept­ based teaching and learning.
  • Teachers should ensure assessments support ongoing learning and provide timely, relevant and appropriate feedback to students on formative and summative assessments.
  • Teachers should demonstrate effective classroom management that shows an understanding of the academic, social and emotional dimensions of learning.
  • Teachers are involved in our Personal and Social Education programme as a mentor
  • Teachers should keep parents informed about the learning of their children, and be proactive in communication with parents.

Person Specifications

  • A related degree and a teaching qualification is a prerequisite.
  • Experience of teaching the IB Diploma Psychology course would be highly desirable.
  • Academic expectations include enthusiastic participation in Professional Learning
  • Pastoral expectations include the leadership of a mentor group unless the teacher is exempted due to other responsibilities.
  • On average the College expects a yearly contribution of two sessions per week in each season to Activities and/or Service.
  • Teachers should be willing and eager to participate in the five key elements of a UWCSEA education: Academics Activities Outdoor Education Personal and Social Education and Service
  • A commitment to diversity and inclusion is essential alongside a willingness to adapt and develop pedagogy to meet the needs of our learners.
