In line with our mission to engage children and young people through the magic of theatre, Wild Rice is looking for a passionate, organised and meticulous PART-TIME AUDIENCE DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE (5-Month Maternity Cover) to join our Youth & Education team.

Please note that this maternity-cover position will be for the period from 21 September 2026 to 19 February 2027.
About the Role
Reporting to our Head of Youth & Education, the Audience Development Executive will be responsible for school outreach and engagement. These duties include:
· Overseeing school outreach for all of our shows, including those currently running as well as our upcoming 2027 season (which includes our next A Little Wild production – a show for children aged 5 to 12 – in early 2027)
· This involves reaching out to schools and teachers, converting engagement to sales, pushing for and facilitating school bookings for students from preschool to tertiary levels, managing and administering these bookings, and ensuring teachers receive all the information and resources they need to plan meaningful and enjoyable theatre experiences for their students
· Ensuring that all schools and teachers enjoy a smooth and well-supported experience with Wild Rice, from initial enquiries through to their visits to our theatre
· Providing day-to-day guidance and direction for our Part-Time Audience Development Assistant, whose role involves monitoring outreach and sales progress
· Managing our Gift of Theatre initiative, which provides complimentary theatre tickets to preschool students from low-income households, in collaboration with our Audience Development Assistant, who will be working to identify and engage with participating preschools
Requirements
· Candidates must be able to commit to a 3-day work week on a hybrid working arrangement, with Wednesdays as a compulsory office day
· At least 3 years experience in client-facing roles, sales, account management, arts administration, customer service, community engagement or a related field
· Experience managing client or customer relationships from initial enquiry through to successful completion of a service or project
· Experience coordinating administrative workflows involving bookings, quotations, invoicing, CRM, ticketing or similar systems
· Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent bookings accurately and efficiently
· Demonstrated ability to coach, guide or supervise junior staff, interns or part-time team members
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with confidence communicating by phone and email with educators, teachers and school leaders
· Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a hybrid working environment
· Comfortable working towards outreach and sales targets while maintaining a high standard of customer service and relationship management
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and work with new systems and platforms
· Interest in theatre, arts education or community engagement is highly desirable
