About the role
I.R.B Law LLP is looking for a Syariah Paralegal to support our lawyers in Syariah-related family and estate matters. You'll work closely with the legal team on case preparation, document drafting, client coordination, and court/tribunal filing processes-helping deliver clear, supportive, and efficient service to clients.
Key responsibilities
- Assist lawyers with Syariah divorce and family matters, including preparation of case documents and supporting materials
- Support Islamic estate planning work (e.g., Muslim wills, faraid-related documentation support, estate administration support)
- Draft and format legal documents (letters, affidavits, schedules, bundles, checklists, client instructions)
- Manage case files and deadlines, including follow-ups with clients and internal stakeholders
- Coordinate filings and procedural requirements (as applicable)
- Maintain accurate records and ensure documents are properly version-controlled and organized
- Communicate professionally with clients and provide administrative support to keep matters moving smoothly
Requirements
- Diploma / Degree in Legal Studies or equivalent experience in a law firm environment
- Prior experience in Syariah law / Muslim family law work is strongly preferred
- Strong drafting, formatting, and document management skills
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple matters at once
- Professional and empathetic communication style (client-facing role)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word is essential)
- Malay language ability is a plus (not mandatory, depending on team needs)
