Job Summary
Prepare and paint walls and surfaces by scraping, filling cracks, mixing paint, and applying finishes to meet quality standards and project specifications.
Responsibilities
- Prepare walls and surfaces by scraping, sanding, and removing old paint to ensure proper adhesion of new coatings
- Fill cracks and holes with appropriate materials such as plaster to create smooth surfaces
- Mix paint and other materials to achieve the correct color and texture according to project requirements
- Apply paint, varnish, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, caulking guns, and other tools following instructions
- Calculate painting costs and negotiate prices to support project budgeting and client agreements
- Follow all health and safety precautions to maintain a safe work environment
- Use manual dexterity and balance to work safely on scaffolding, ladders, and other elevated platforms
Required competencies and certifications
- Proven experience as a painter demonstrating ability to complete painting tasks effectively
- Knowledge of painting materials, including selection, mixing, and application techniques
- Understanding of commercial and/or construction painting methods
- Ability to use painting tools such as brushes and caulking guns with precision
- Physical ability to maintain balance and manual dexterity while working at heights
- Flexibility to work after regular hours, on weekends, public holidays, and any shift (night/day) as needed
