Job specifics
Optometrist's responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations using optometric equipment
- Perform vision test and refraction to determine appropriate prescriptions
- Prescribe spectacles and/or contact lenses based on patients needs
- Provide professional consultation and eye-care advice
- Assist in spectacle frame selection taking into consideration prescription and needs
- Assist in educating patients on why chosen optical products are recommended
- Ensure proper fitment and adjustment of spectacles
- Notice and highlight signs of eye conditions that are beyond scope of regular eye-care and refer patients to ophthalmologists as required
- Maintain accurate and clear patient records, prescription documentation
- Ensure and maintain optometry equipment for
- calibration
