About the Role

We are seeking a qualified Optometrist to support our Ophthalmologist in providing specialist eye care services. This role involves conducting detailed clinical assessments, performing ophthalmic diagnostic tests, and supporting pre- and post-operative care. The ideal candidate should be clinically competent, patient-focused, and comfortable working in a ophthalmic specialist medical environment.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Assessments & Diagnostics

  • Perform comprehensive eye examinations, including refraction, visual acuity tests, colour vision tests, and intraocular pressure measurement.
  • Conduct specialised ophthalmic tests such as OCT, visual field tests, fundus photography, corneal topography, biometry (e.g., IOL Master) and other diagnostic imaging (training can be provided).
  • Perform preliminary assessments and prepare patients for the Ophthalmologist's consultation.

Clinical Support

  • Assist the Ophthalmologist in managing and counselling patients with ocular diseases (e.g., cataract, glaucoma, retinal conditions, corneal disorders).
  • Support pre-operative evaluation and post-operative care for cataract, refractive, and other ophthalmic surgeries.
  • Provide patient counselling on diagnosis, treatment plans, surgical preparation, post-surgical plans, and medication usage.
  • Assist in triaging urgent eye conditions and escalate appropriately.

Clinic Operations & Administration

  • Ensure accurate documentation of clinical findings in accordance with MOH and OOB requirements.
  • Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic equipment and ensure proper inventory of diagnostic supplies.
  • Support daily clinic operations including patient flow, appointment coordination, and adherence to infection control standards.

Other Requirements

  • Minimum 23 years of clinical optometrist experience.
  • Solid understanding of ocular anatomy, pathology, and ophthalmic disease management.
  • Strong communication skills, professional demeanor, and excellence in patient care.
  • Prior experience supporting Ophthalmologists in hospital or specialist centres.
  • Hands-on proficiency in using ophthalmic diagnostic equipment (OCT, HVF, IOL Master, Pentacam, slit lamp imaging).
