Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Optician to join our eye care team. You will be responsible for helping patients select the best eyewear based on their prescriptions, lifestyle needs, and facial features. The ideal candidate blends technical expertise in lens technology with a flair for style and exceptional sales ability.

Key Responsibilities

• Consultation & Styling: Interpret optical prescriptions and advise patients on lens types (single vision, progressive, office lenses), coatings (anti-reflective, blue-light blocking), and frame styles that suit their face shape and personality.

• Technical Fitting: Take accurate measurements, including Pupillary Distance (PD), segment heights, and vertex distance to ensure optimal visual performance.

• Repairs & Adjustments: Perform frame adjustments, nose pad replacements, and minor repairs to ensure a comfortable and secure fit for the wearer.

• Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining the showroom, managing frame inventory, and coordinating with optical labs for lens processing and quality control.

• Patient Education: Explain insurance benefits, warranty policies, and provide instruction on the proper care and maintenance of eyewear and contact lenses.

• Sales & Administration: Process sales transactions, maintain accurate patient records, and follow up on orders to ensure timely delivery.

Requirements

• Experience: Previous experience in an optical retail setting or a background in optometry/opticianry studies is highly preferred.

• Technical Skills: Proficiency in using lensmeters (focimeters) and other optical measurement tools.

• Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex technical information in a simple, friendly manner.

• Detail-Oriented: Precision is critical in checking finished jobs against original prescriptions.

• Certification: Relevant certification or licensing (where applicable by local regulations) is an advantage.
